Project Profile
Unfortunately, many real estate developers struggle to find a reputable build partner. Promises are made, but too often, inexperienced contractors blow through budgets and deadlines that hurt the bottom line. This scenario unfolded for Right Time Homes before Slate Building Group stepped in.
Located in Matthews, NC, the Tennyson community includes 73 lots and boasts a variety of amenities for local residents. Upon taking over this subdivision construction project, we walked the properties, inspected the homes in progress and outlined a clear plan to address existing concerns and get the construction timeline back on track.
When projects aren’t managed properly, mistakes are made. For example, the master bathrooms in many of this subdivision’s homes had to be modified once we got to work. The original design was outdated and inefficient so design plans were adjusted to be swapped for fully-tiled walls with niches to easily hold shower essentials. Not only was the problem fixed, but homeowners raved about the modifications.
The result left homeowners and the Right Time Homes team confident that these builds would stand the test of time. Our proven build process keeps timelines on track, helps our team avoid unnecessary delays and ensures no one ever cuts corners.
When we, or a real estate investor like Right Time Homes, have to return and fix things a year later, it hurts everyone’s reputation and profitability.
“We can’t just trust our investments to any general contractor. We partner with the team at Slate Building Group because they take care of things in the field, ensure our day-to-day involvement is minimal and free us up to focus on the rest of our portfolio. SBG is the reliable team I can trust to manage everything on our behalf.”
— Andrew Garza, Right Time Homes
Here at Slate Building Group, whether we kick off (or take over) a project, it’s important to have a clear plan because speed and quality work are the two pillars that keep our team and our real estate investors profitable. Their focus should be expanding the business, not feeling tied to the construction site.
When taking over the Tennyson Community build, we encountered an issue with ceiling fan remote switches, because of the proximity of these houses, neighbors could accidentally control each other’s fans! Slate Building Group got to work to find a solution. It required speaking with the ceiling fan manufacturer and ultimately upgrading to a different remote to resolve the issue. When building a development, resolving issues quickly and having an attitude of continuous improvement sets everyone up for success.
Builders who cut corners are putting their short-term interests over long-term relationships.
At Slate Building Group, we build homes and relationships for the long haul.
Our mission is to operate as a reliable builder that frees investors up to focus on their next opportunity.
